Damn Random Week #15

"Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music." - Marcus Brigstocke.

I Am Common People

Here's Pulp with Common People. Haven't heard it in ages, so was pretty surprised when it came on the radio yesterday. Brought back some memories, and the song still rings true. The title of this post says it all really. Wish I wasn't though.

Ricky, Oh Ricky!

Martial arts cult classic, Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky, a gore-fest of epic B-grade proportions. Basic plot revolves around a man named Riki who is sent to prison and tries to stop the corrupt warden. But who cares about plot right? What we want is mindless, excessive violence.

Heads smashed into pieces? Check.

Arms getting sawn off? Check.

Eyes getting gouged out? Check.

Sewing your own wounds? Check.

Severed heads? Check.

Strangling your opponent with your own intestines? Check.

Punching straight thru a man? Check.

Busting out of prison in true bad-ass style? Check.

Really, what's not to like?

Watch it all here in its entirety. It'll be the best 87 minutes of your life.

Fat Ass Nation

Some interesting stats, surprising only in the fact that Taco Bell and Subway outlets outnumber McDonald's.

If you haven't already seen it, you should check out the movie Supersize Me, in which independent filmmaker Morgan Spurlock eats nothing but McDonald's for a month! Some pretty gross moments, and this film is directly responsible for McDonald's eliminating their Supersize option at all their outlets.

Of course, if you want to be completely grossed out, then pick up a copy of Eric Schlosser's Fast Food Nation. I had to read it for a class in college, and some truly disturbing reading caused me to give up on all fast-foods for over a year.

Why only a year? Because of the Spicy Chicken McDeluxe...

...and the divine Double Spicy Chicken McDeluxe...

...with a side of Shaker Fries!

Of course, nothing comes close to the all-time local favourite, the heart-attack inducing Burger Ramly - Double Special with extra Cheese and Mayo!

Mmm mmm, feel those arteries hardening!

Damn Random Week #13

"You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She's not perfect - you aren't either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break - her heart. So don't hurt her, don't change her, don't analyze and don't expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she's not there." — Bob Marley.

Lights, Camera, and some serious Action!

Interesting way to 'psycho' the male population into watching this movie.

I don't care how bad the movie may end up being, they still need to make a part 2 just so they can squeeze in Seagal, Van Damme, Norris, Snipes, The Rock, Trejo and maybe even Vin Diesel.

Damn Random Week #12

"He sullied my name without knowing what happened. Lilian thinks he's the new coach, president of the FFF and president of France. Walking around with books on slavery in glasses and a hat does not turn you into Malcolm X." - Patrice Evra.

Bowling for Music Videos

So I just recently discovered this band called Bowling For Soup (sue me, I don't listen to the radio) and I must say that although their music isn't that great (not terrible either), I find their videos really interesting. They all seem to follow a similar pattern - band playing song, band members acting in said song story, band playing song in story world, band back in the real world. There's a real consistency in their videos, giving them a cohesive look and feel, and a pretty cool signature style.

In addition, while being a 2000s lite punk-rock band, they seem to pay homage a lot to the 80s scene, with references to Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, and the like. Anything to do with the 80s definitely has my attention, as you'll see in a future post.

In the meantime, check out a few of their videos.

Seriously, whatever happened to Tommy and Gina?
