Strike!

After years of playing, I finally decided to get my own bowling ball. Got a pretty good deal too. RM 319 for ball, shoes and bag. Maybe now I'll manage to consistently get a score of more than 200. It's only happened once in my life so far, and that was waaaay back in 1996.

Damn Random Week #90

"The world is full of people whose notion of a satisfactory future is, in fact, a return to the idealised past." - Robertson Davies.

Pictures & Words

Hipster photos with captions on them seem to be everywhere these days. Basically take any random photo, run it through some sort of filter to give it an old-timey feel, then type something deep or emo on it.

Here are some samples:

Of course, this has in turn sparked an anti-hipster photo/caption movement, often with hilarious results.

This photo neatly sums up the effort required to be a unique individual, just like everybody else.

Here are a few of my efforts using pictures taken while in San Francisco. Pretty lame I agree, but then again I know the square root of sod all about Photoshop.

This final one is some sage advice given to me by my father, the gist of which I assume was "Don't give a damn what anyone else thinks."

Words to live by, I'm sure you'll agree.

Ding Dong

Kristen Bell is an emotional wreck on The Ellen Show.

Don't worry, you crazy cutie, I'd still ring your bell, if you know what I mean.

Slice & Dice

Just watched Takashi Miike's 13 Assassins this past weekend, and was mightily impressed. 1 hour and 15 minutes of set-up followed by 45 minutes of non-stop sword-fighting.

Pretty damn kick-ass, and slightly reminiscent of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, one of the greatest movies ever.

As an added bonus, here's a video of a modern-day samurai, with some truly insane skills.

Now, where's my damn sword?
