Damn Random Week #6

"You can buy a pretty good dog with a lot of money, but you can't buy the wag of its tail." - Josh Billings.

I ♥ MJ

So it's been just over a year since he's been gone, and I thought it'd be a good time to look back at the life and times of the man.

Here's Michael with The Jackson Five.

Here's Mike going solo.

Here's him in undoubtedly the single greatest video ever.

Who hasn't done this move?

MJ pimping Pepsi at the height of his fame, with a young Alfonso "Carlton" Ribeiro.

Michael the humanitarian.

There's been so many classic videos he's produced, more than I can post up, so go re-visit your favorites here:

It's been a hell of a ride, so thanks for the memories.

Rest in peace, Michael.

Geek-gasm

Just got done watching a fan-made extended trailer of Mortal Kombat, one of countless other such fan-made stuff, and it got me wondering why the actual movies are never as good.

The original Mortal Kombat was a cheesy affair, one to file in the "so bad it's good" category, but this trailer gives the movie a Dark Knight-esque feel to it. Wouldn't mind seeing this adapted to the big screen.

Then there's this one of the Green Lantern.

Again, this trailer has a really dark feel to it which actually goes well with the Hal Jordan character. Of course, there's actually a Green Lantern movie currently in production, starring Ryan Reynolds, but I'm not holding my breath for anything as serious as this. As long as it isn't the Fantastic Four, I'll probably go watch it.

Here's a trailer of the Thundercats. I can't even begin to fathom the hours of work that went into creating this masterpiece, but it really does whet the appetite for an actual live-action version of the popular '80s cartoon show.

Next up, it's The Batman. I didn't think it was possible, but here's a even grittier Dark Knight. This French-made version has the Caped Crusader set in a seedy Sin City type world, and yet it feels strangely fitting somehow.

Finally, not all re-imaginings have to necessarily be for mature audiences only. The pièce de résistance of fan-made trailers has got to be this Iron Man for the Disney crowd.

Lil' Tony is sure to drive the girls ga-ga goo-goo.

Now, if only someone'll make a brilliant movie-version of Ultraman, I'd die a happy man. I mean, how hard could it be?

D'oh!

Why So Delirious?

If the internet crashed tomorrow, never to rise again, I can safely say that this is the single most awesome thing it has ever contributed to my life.

I could watch this all day. Which is more than I can say for the original, just barely made watchable by some booty-shaking dancers.

Kids, there's a lesson to be learnt here - Stay away from drugs.
